The mediation week problem
The week before mediation is rarely calm. You have three depositions, a pile of exhibits, a client who wants a number, and a mediator who will ask what the evidence actually supports. Re-reading every transcript is the honest default. It is also the bottleneck.
LawLM is built for that week. Upload the deps. 1. Cited summaries
A mediation brief needs the witness’s story in a form you can trust in front of the other side. Each deposition package produces a per-deposition card: a list of key topics, exhibits, entities, and a narrative summary. The narrative includes page-and-line style citations. Click a cite in the text and LawLM opens the transcript PDF at that page so you can verify before you rely on it.
Topics appear as a scannable list on the card. They help you see what the dep covers before you dig into the narrative. Today they are an index, not a jump link into the summary or the PDF. What does navigate is the cite inside the narrative itself, plus View Original and download (PDF, DOCX, or Markdown) when you need to hand a digest to co-counsel or the client.
Use it for
Pre-mediation witness digests, co-counsel handoffs, and client updates that still point back to the transcript page, not a paraphrased memory.
2. Case Analysis
After a deposition runs through the current analysis pipeline, Case Analysis gives you a matter-level dashboard: five KPI cards you open one at a time. Scope the whole board by deposition (multi-select) and keyword. Open a cite and the transcript opens at the cited page. Older uploads that never ran this pipeline may need a reprocess before Analysis appears.
That board is included with every deposition package. For mediation week, it is how you answer “what is the story of this case?” without re-opening five PDFs.
Timeline
Timeline pulls dated (and undated) events out of the record: date or date text, description, deposition, and source cites. Events group along a vertical spine so you can walk the chronology with counsel or the client. Undated items sit in a “no exact date” bucket instead of being forced onto a fake day. Filter by deposition or keyword, expand long descriptions, and download the visible rows as CSV for an internal chronology or outline.
Use it when the mediator asks when notice happened, when treatment started, or how the story lines up across witnesses. It is a structured chronology from the Structured Evidence Model, not a calendar you edit by hand. Click a source cite and the transcript opens at that page.
Credibility assessments
Credibility assessments are preparation signals for deponents: rating, summary, factors, and passage segments with page ranges back to the transcript. Assessments group by deposition. Expand a card to read the summary, open Sources or Factors, jump to a cited page, or download that assessment as a PDF for your mediation folder.
Ratings in the product include High, Moderate, Low, Mixed, and Insufficient evidence. Treat them as structured prep notes grounded in the record, not a verdict on the witness. Filter the board by deposition or keyword when you are comparing who said what.
Key testimony
Key testimony is a filterable table of statements: topic, speaker, kind, deposition, source cite, and the statement itself. Sort and refine by speaker or kind when you are building admissions for caucus or a short list of lines you may need to read aloud. Source cites open the transcript at the page. Export the visible set as CSV.
Topics here label the row. They do not jump you into another Analysis section. The value is a scannable ledger of what was said, with a path back to the page.
Legal issues
Legal issues surfaces issue labels and types, parties, summaries, depositions, and cites. Group and filter by issue type when you are framing liability themes for the mediator: notice, causation, comparative fault, damages theories. Same pattern: keyword and deposition scope, page-linked sources, CSV of what you are looking at.
Liability and damages
Liability & Damages Nexus is the money-and-elements view. Per-deposition synthesis cards summarize the monetary and liability picture (including assumptions and limits where the model produced them). Below that you get monetary mentions (amounts, categories, context, cites) and liability or causation elements, with links between related items where the model connected them. Download a synthesis PDF when you want a one-pager for the mediation binder.
This is structured evidence for exposure conversations. It is not Case Valuator. When you need an expected case value and range from liability × damages scenarios, that lives in Chat under Case Valuator mode (below).
3. Chat: ask the record
Summaries and Case Analysis are tabs that structure what is already in the file. Chat is where you ask. In the Chat tab, pick an Answer mode, select the depositions (and supporting documents, when relevant), and ask a question. Each question costs 10 credits. Answers include page-and-line style cites; click a cite and the transcript opens at that page so you can verify before you rely on it in mediation.
Three modes cover most of mediation week: Cross-deposition for conflicts, Case Valuator for settlement posture, and General for everything else.
Cross-deposition
Switch Answer mode to Cross-deposition, select the depositions in scope, and ask where testimony conflicts. The mode is built to find contradictions and inconsistencies within or across witness testimony. Use it on notice, prior injury, damages stories, or any thread the mediator will pressure-test.

Open Chat, pick Cross-deposition, and ask where the witnesses disagree about notice. Confirm the cite on the page before you lean on it in the room.
Case Valuator
Clients want a number. Good lawyers want a number tied to liability and damages scenarios in the record. Switch Answer mode to Case Valuator, select the depositions and supporting documents in scope, and ask for a settlement-oriented value analysis. Case Valuator builds liability and damages scenarios from that evidence, then computes an expected case value and range. If the record cannot support a value, we say so.
Use it to pressure-test demand, exposure, and opening positions. Your judgment still owns the file. Same 10-credit cost as other Chat questions. It is not a formal appraisal, and it is not the Liability & Damages view in Case Analysis. Analysis structures what is in the record; Case Valuator asks a valuation question on top of it.
General Q&A
The night before, someone always asks a question you did not index. Leave Answer mode on General, select the deps and supporting documents you need, and ask. Balanced Q&A across the selection, with cites you can open to the transcript page before you say the line aloud.
That is the difference between “I think the plaintiff said…” and a cite you verified on the PDF page.
